Arktisk Keramik
A piece of North at your home.
Welcome to Arktisk Keramik - one of the most northern ceramic workshops in Europe. Driven by passion and admiration for the meticulous craftmanship we specialize in creating exquisitely designed ceramics, eg. tableware, home styling elements and jewelry pieces. Our artworks are not just ceramic pieces but also moments - moments created in Tornedalen, moments we want to share with you. Norrland captivates with its roughness, breathtaking contrasts and natural beauty. Our objective is to captivate its essence in our designs and encourage you to fall in love with it as we did.

Our process
A tedious process with multiple steps where none of them is to be omitted is the secret behind our products. Certain steps of the process are not to be rushed so the patience and good planning skills are at the core.

Design
The beautiful arctic nature, its dynamics and changability is the straightforward source of inspiration for our products.

Forming
Each product is hand-formed or hand-thrown on the pottery wheel. The differences appearing between products add to their unique charm and are the proof of handcraft

Decorating
Slow and careful drying process is essential to the final form of the product. When the greenware is leather hard we decorate every object by hand. it undergoes the 1st quality check and small improvemnts are implemented

Bisquit firing
Before firing every product undergoes the 1st quality check and small improvements are implemented. Bisquit firing is the first firing when the clay hardens and turns to ceramics. It takes 3 days to complete this stage of the process

Glazing
Glazing is probably the most intense moment where a lot of things can go wrong. Glazing demands certain scheme, technique and a good dose of precision.

Glaze firing
Glaze firing is the most unpredictable moment in the whole process. This is when the final effect is being created. An make no mistake, every firing can be a little different even when using exactly the same glazes.

Polishing
Final touch to every created piece
